Cookies are text files containing small amounts of information which are downloaded to your device when you visit a website. Cookies are then sent back to the originating website on each subsequent visit, or to another website that recognizes that cookie. Cookies are useful because they allow a website to recognize a user’s device.

The detailed description of cookies used on our site can be found here:

JivoChat's cookies

You can set your browser not to accept cookies and the above website tells you how to remove cookies from your browser.

Please note in a few cases some of the JivoChat Service features may not function because of this.

Cookies are usually classified as following:

Strictly necessary cookies These cookies are essential in order to enable you to move around the website and use its features, such as accessing secure areas of the website. Without these cookies, services you have asked for cannot be provided.

Performance cookies These cookies collect information about how visitors use a website, for instance which pages visitors go to most often, and if they get error messages from web pages. These cookies don’t collect information that identifies a visitor. All information these cookies collect is aggregated and therefore anonymous. It is only used to improve how a website works.

Functionality cookies These cookies allow the website to remember choices you make (such as your user name, language or the region you are in) and provide enhanced, more personal features. These cookies can also be used to remember changes you have made to text size, fonts and other parts of web pages that you can customize. They may also be used to provide services you have asked for such as watching a video or commenting on a blog. The information these cookies collect may be anonymized and they cannot track your browsing activity on other websites.

Advertising cookies These cookies are used to deliver adverts more relevant to you and your interests. They remember that you have visited a website and this information is shared with other organizations such as advertisers. Quite often targeting or advertising cookies are linked to site functionality provided by the other organization.

First and third party cookies Whether a cookie is ‘first’ or ‘third’ party refers to the domain placing the cookie. First-party cookies are those set by a website that is being visited by the user at the time — the website displayed in the URL window. Third-party cookies are cookies that are set by a domain other than that of the website being visited by the user. If a user visits a website and another entity sets a cookie through that website this would be a third-party cookie.

Persistent cookies These cookies remain on a user’s device for the period of time specified in the cookie.

Session cookies These cookies allow website operators to link the actions of a user during a browser session. A browser session starts when a user opens the browser window and finishes when they close the browser window. Session cookies are created temporarily. Once you close the browser, all session cookies are deleted.

Live Chat Widget and cookies

Please note that JivoChat widget is using cookies. Some of these cookies are strictly necessary and do not require user’s consent. Some of the cookies are statistical and might require user’s consent before installation to user’s equipment in certain jurisdictions. Please make sure you understand how to allow the JivoChat scripts to run only after website visitor provided the relevant consent when required.

The browser will launch the scripts in the order it finds them, except dynamically loaded scripts. They will be loaded in the order in which they are added in all modern browsers.

Here is an example of JivoChat dynamically loaded script:

var jivoScript = document.createElement('script'); jivoScript.setAttribute('src','//code.jivosite.com/widget/_WIDGET_ID_'); jivoScript.setAttribute('async', true); document.head.appendChild(jivoScript);

You can find your Widget_ID in the settings of your JivoChat app.

So in case your website is subject to GDPR and ePrivacy Directive, use this solution to postpone the setup of Live Chat Widget cookies until visitor’s consent.

In order to provide your website visitors control over cookies that are allowed to be installed on their equipment you may use some ready to use solutions.

Full list of Consent Management Providers approved by Interactive Advertising Bureau is available here:

https://iabeurope.eu/cmp-list/

You can use Cookie consent tool from this list and display it on your website. Inserting it as the very first script ensures that no cookies or trackers escape your automatic cookie blocking.

  • Cookie consent banner
  • Cookie Declaration list

The cookie disclaimer and statement will list all cookies and trackers discovered on your website and allow the website visitor to provide, withdraw (or change) a consent at any time — as required under GDPR and ePrivacy Directive.

This classification helps ensure that all cookies and trackers on your website (except the ‘strictly necessary’ cookies) will automatically be blocked until before the website visitor has provided consent for cookie installation.

As an example you could see how to setup it with one of the Consent Management Provider certified by Interactive Advertising Bureau.
